The display shows the structure of the Light-Harvesting Complex 2. All photosynthetic processes within the purple bacterial cell originate here within its two rings of chlorophylls. The chlorophylls absorb sunlight and transfer the resulting energy to other proteins in the chromatophore. Here, the LH2 has been embedded within the chromatophore membrane and simulated for 10 nanoseconds.
